Bonjour Fribourg: A new chapter for feel better than good

After many years in the vibrant heart of the city on the Limmat, Andrea Welti is now looking to the future from her base in Fribourg. In her light-filled studio, with views of the Bernese and Vaud Alps, she finds space to let ideas mature and to develop new approaches at her own pace. “I can really delve into a subject here. That’s my new luxury,” says the Zurich-based designer. With its relaxed atmosphere, Fribourg is also a perfect fit with the ‘feel better than good’ way of life.

The new location in the French part of Switzerland is also changing her creative rhythm: “For over 25 years, I’ve been running two collections side by side: my seasonal ready-to-wear collections and the Care Collection. Now I’m looking forward to channelling all my experience and creativity into developing my Care Collection.” What hasn't changed is Andrea Weltis’s distinctive fashion signature: sophisticated tailoring, flattering silhouettes and that relaxed elegance that has already characterised her ready-to-wear collections.

“Workwear shouldn’t make people look like clones; it should convey personality and flatter every employee.” The designer sees teamwear as a calling card that causes a positive feeling and communicates a company’s philosophy to the outside world. Fribourg is now Andrea Weltis’s new base. She welcomes her clients in person at the studio and sets off from there to visit clients throughout Switzerland. Even with the new location, direct interaction remains a central part of her work: “I need to sense the spirit and design ethos of a company and reflect what it stands for.”
